Seasons Greetings from the Boy Bishop of Hereford
Alex Shepherd knows his way around campervans since he helps out at Passage Unwritten during the summer season.
This year Alex was given the honourable position of Boy Bishop at Hereford Cathedral, a tradition that dates back to the 13th Century. This involved Alex reading a self written sermon providing a youthful point of view.
We thought Alex would be best placed to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We are looking forward to meeting more of you fun loving, adventurous spirits in 2010 ... |

Vanfest 2009 - Largest Vdub Show in Europe
Great weather, campervans for all tastes and plenty of campervan fans - brilliant. Alison, Adam and Susan - sorry we did not manage to bump into each other.
Stella had her eye on a beautiful Samba splitty (left).
Mary Jane (right - our yellow "very late bay" Danbury campervan) enjoyed the company of a few vans. The blue van to her right was an original postal panel van. Like most campervans at Vanfest 09, the panel van was for sale! |

Top 10 Cool Campervanning Sites
Chugging along through the British countryside in a VW camper – made iconic in the 60s and 70s by a new wave of young travellers covering mile upon mile in this trendiest of mobile homes – it really is the life. Bundling your transport and accommodation into one cool-looking vehicle gives a remarkable sense of freedom and security, the kind that normally only tortoises, hermit crabs and snails get to enjoy.
It certainly beats sleeping under canvas when it’s raining, and not needing to set up a tent when you arrive at an extra special spot means there’s more time for exploring. |

Passage Unwritten has been featured twice in the local media this month. Firstly in the Hereford Times (see left) on the 17th and then on the BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester breakfast show (21st, interview recording can be heard by clicking on the right image). Thanks for all those that have emailed or called us with enquiries after seeing and hearing these interviews.

Tinkerbell will be at Silverstone for the (last?) British Grand Prix this month. Whilst Jenson Button is a big campervan fan, thankfully he will not be racing in Tink but in his super fast Brawn. After a few years in the wilderness it is wonderful to see Jens leading the drivers championship and showing that brains (and some Brawn) win out over money. If you are in the area look out for Tink and her magical fibre optic cabin roof lights.

Mary Jane the yellow campervan went to Wood Festival and was involved in a video documentary shown on the eFestival site. Mary Jane features during the opening, closing and mid sections. When Dodgy were interviewed in front of Mary Jane people were asking "who is that stood in front on Mary Jane?". Dodgy had hits including "Staying Out for the Summer" and "If Your Are Thinking of Me" (band members pictured right with Mary Jane). |

Not to be out-done, our old-boy Ned attended his first wedding this month. Needless to say he was well behaved and surrounded by new friends.

During the Flower Festival in September, 800 tagged
balloons were released in a balloon race which raised £800 for Hereford Cathedral and it’s Choir. The balloon race was sponsored by Dragonswood Forge. The furthest balloon was returned by a lady in Launceston, Cornwall and travelled 181 miles from the Cathedral’s west doors.
The winning balloon was purchased by Anita and Richard Skyrme who are looking forward to spending a weekend away in a new VW campervan from Passage Unwritten. The prize was presented by The Dean of Hereford Cathedral to Mark Jackson, of Hereford Cathedral School, who received the prize on behalf of the winners.
Also in the picture Liz Lossock (who’s husband Neil is the proprietor of www.dragonswoodforge.co.uk) and Stella who are parents of choristers at Hereford Cathedral.

We are always looking for novel examples where a VW campervan is the perfect choice. One we discovered recently was if you need to take your son or daughter to visit a far flung University. A campervan is an ideal home from home. When our eldest daughter started at Falmouth University a campervan was the perfect vehicle to carry all her essentials including plant, quilt and toy rocking horse! It even provided a cosy place to stay for the night. Making new friends the first day on campus was no problem !

session. You'll not only get a chance
to listen to some great musicians but
you can also get up and perform
yourself in front of a friendly and
receptive audience. |
